Game Explanations

Point scoring

The base point score for zapping another player is 100 points. This is modified by + 10 points per difference in Skill Level. For example, if a Level 3 zaps a level 3, she/he scores 100 points. But if a Level 1 zaps a Level 6, the Level 1 scores 150 points. Similarly, if a level 6 zaps a level 1, the 6 will score only 50 points.

In a team game, if a player zaps a team-mate, he/she will lose 100 points, and shut down as if they'd been zapped. Levels 1 and 2 cannot zap their team-mates.
Lock On.

Lock-on is a tone indicating that you have acquired a target. There is a tone for locking on to an opponent and a different one for locking onto a friendly player. When a battlesuit is logged on it can get lock-on to all other battlesuits except itself (and in the case of level 1 & 2 players, it cannot lock on to team mates in a team game).

Shot Speed.

Shot speed is two shots per second.

Infield Targets.

Players score bonus points for destroying the infield targets. To destroy a target players must score three hits in a row on it. All players can destroy each target only once during the game. In a team game a player can not destroy the target that is the same colour as that player. Points are awarded as follows: Team game - 1001 points, Individual game - 801 points.

Hit Zones

Players can be hit in each shoulder, the phaser and the back.

Down Time.

Down time is the time each player is deactivated when they are hit. The down time is nominally 8 seconds, but this figure is modified by the player's skill level. When players are "Down" they can not be hit for the first 4 seconds. In the 5-8 second period (reset period) players can be hit again and they will lose another 8 seconds. While they are down, they can not be zapped again by the player who last zapped them unless that player "Resets" (see below).

Resetting.

This refers to a situation where a player can repeatedly zap a down player. Resetting occurs thus: Player A zaps player B. Player B has four seconds to "disappear" before he can be hit again. Player A then zaps player C. Player A can then zap B again while he is in the reset period of being down. Player A has "Reset" again, and can now zap Player C again. And so on. Note that chasing a "Down" player more than three metres is considered to be stalking, and is forbidden.
